mijjiCakes (pronounced mee-chee cakes) was started by Mitzi Song, whose Korean name is “Mijji,” meaning “beautiful and wise.” mijjiCakes strives for beauty and wisdom to be the foundation of our cakes, business, and life.
Baking and art have always been passions of Mijji’s, which led her to 5 years as a decorator and Wedding & Events coordinator at a successful bakery. In 2017, cakes became an obsession, and she experimented daily with recipes and designs while also juggling a full-time job at a tech start-up in San Francisco. Her co-workers became her guinea pigs, as it became normal for her to bring a cake to work almost every day. Within a few months, Mijji started getting regular requests for cakes from friends and family, which then became friends of friends and family, and then eventually completely new people. In October of 2019, she decided to take the leap and dedicate herself full-time to mijjiCakes!
mijjiCakes’s philosophy is that cakes should taste as beautiful as they look, and look as beautiful as they taste. Our mission is to create more moments of happiness through our cakes by focusing on baking the highest quality cake layers, designing with elegance and simplicity, and connecting with you through every order.
Our cakes taste less sweet and look less busy than other bakeries, but we believe the flavors shine brighter and the designs impress deeper. We can’t wait to make you a mijjiCake to try for yourself!
